Rounds of severe weather in Windsor-Essex have led to a statement issued by the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA).
ERCA has issued a watershed conditions flood outlook statement due to the possibility of standing water left by heavy rain moving through the region Thursday afternoon.
"Additional rainfall could create ponding and areas of standing water, cause smaller watercourses to rise, and some could spill their banks into adjacent low-lying areas," said ERCA Water Management Services Director James Bryant.
Rain gauges recorded up to 15 millimetres of rain in some areas, possibly more.
ERCA defines a flood outlook as an "early notice of the potential for flooding based on weather forecasts calling for heavy rain, snow melt, high wind or other conditions that could lead to high runoff, cause ice jams, lakeshore flooding or erosion."
The statement is in effect until at least 10 a.m. Friday.
