Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the deaths of four people in Harrow.
Around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, officers were called to a home on County Road 13, where they found four deceased individuals.
Police did not confirm the cause of death or the identities of the individuals.
"We're not able to come out and say it's suspicious at this point in the investigation as we have simply just started the process. Our officers were at the scene yesterday and they're gathering information and gathering evidence but this is really the ground floor," said Derek Rogers, OPP Regional Media Relations Coordinator.
Rogers said residents in the area should expect a heavy police presence for most of the weekend.
There will be a postmortem investigation conducted in London.
Investigators believe there is no imminent threat to public safety.
Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy confirmed the deaths involved family members.
"The community is really challenged right now with grief. We have such a small town and everybody's connected so this is impacting our daycare, our schools, our youth centre, our local businesses," said Bondy.
She said the town plans to organize a vigil for the victims however details have not been finalized. The Harrow Health Centre will also be providing free counselling Monday-Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
