The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has issued another reminder that it will not benefit you to bring weapons over the border.
A person travelling to Canada from Detroit via the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel was referred to secondary inspection on Monday. A search uncovered three undeclared weapons.
The traveller was fined and sent back to the U.S. The weapons were confiscated.
The CBSA reminds cross-border commuters that there are explicit rules regarding the importing of weapons.
"If you have declared firearms but cannot meet the import requirements, or you do not have the proper documents, the border services officer may at his or her discretion and dependant on the availability of services at the port of entry, allow you to export the firearm from Canada," read the notice from the CBSA. "If you do not declare the firearm or are untruthful, the CBSA may seize it, and you may face criminal charges and-or monetary penalties."
Complete information about importing weapons can be found on the CBSA's official website.
