Leamington turns 150 with a day of music Sunday

The Municipality of Leamington has kicked off a summer of events to celebrate its 150th birthday.

The milestone is being commemorated this weekend. The celebration continues Sunday with an eclectic range of musical offerings, presented free of charge at Italian Centennial Park on John Street.

The lineup is as follows.

  • 2 p.m. - Spanish soloist Román De la Cruz

  • 3 p.m. - Take Two - Italian and more

  • 4 p.m. - The Denis Bastarache Duo

  • 5 p.m. - Spanish group The Sabor Latino Band

  • 6 p.m. - Autumn Leaves, featuring a mix of Russian, Yiddish, polkas, Celtic jigs and reels

  • 7 p.m. - Jilda Farias, with a mix of well-loved songs and opera

People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the music throughout the day. Many nearby businesses will be open, offering food and drink.
