What's open and closed in Windsor-Essex on Canada Day

Windsor-Essex residents will pause on Monday to celebrate Canada's 157th birthday.

Monday is Canada Day, and that means all federal, provincial, and municipal officers will closed. There will be no Canada Post delivery.

The 311 call centre in Windsor will be closed on Monday, and reopen Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 211 call centre will be open 24 hours as usual.

The public drop-off and chemical disposal waste depot in Windsor will be closed on Canada Day. All residential garbage and yard waste collections set for Monday will be delayed one day. Commercial trash and recycling pickup will take place as usual.

All Windsor arenas, community centres, and customer care centres will be closed on Monday except for pre-scheduled rentals.

Sandpoint Beach in Windsor will be open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., weather and water conditions permitting. City splash pads will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park has begun summer hours and is now open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Sunday, September 1.

The Windsor International Aquatic Training Centre, WFCU Centre pool, and Marcus Community Centre pool will be closed on Monday.

Atkinson, Lanspeary, Mic Mac, Remington Booster and Riverside Centennial outdoor pools will be open from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The Lakeview Park Marina's boat launch ramps will be open Canada Day from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the office and fuel dock from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There is no metered parking enforcement in Windsor on July 1, though paid lots and garages will charge as usual.  Municipal ticket payment offices will be closed.

Windsor's Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House will be closed on Monday, which is the usual day they are closed.

The Windsor Public Library, as well as all branches of the Essex County Library, will be closed on Canada Day.

Transit Windsor buses will operate on their Sunday-holiday schedules on Monday.

Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle will be open Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tecumseh Mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The LCBO will be closed on Monday, but all outlets will be open Sunday, and from Tuesday to Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., ahead of a potential labour action.

Selected Beer Store locations will be open Canada Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to check with your location to avoid a wasted trip.
