The Windsor Police Service arrested six people on outstanding warrants related to intimate partner violence.
This week, the Special Victims Unit, the Problem Oriented Policing Unit, and the Emergency Services Unit conducted a targeted operation to round up wanted suspects.
“Domestic and family violence are among the most frequent incidents reported to Windsor Police,” said Staff Sergeant Richard Sieberer of the Special Victims Unit. “These arrests highlight our dedication to holding suspects accountable.”
All of the suspects were arrested on charges related to intimate partner violence including, assault, assault with a weapon, assault choking, uttering threats and breach of probation.
Intimate partner violence was declared an epidemic in Windsor last year. To help combat the issue, the Windsor Police partnered with Family Services Windsor-Essex to launch an IPV Early Intervention and Prevention program.
