Health unit posts warning at Sandpoint Beach

The water has been sampled. The results are in, and the Windsor Essex County Health Unit has good news for beachgoers this week.

None of the region's public beaches are closed, although the health unit warns swimmers to stay out of the water at Sandpoint Beach in Windsor.

Sandpoint Beach tested high for E.Coli when water was sampled on Wednesday. The bacterial count was 635, far above the safe level at 200 per 100 mL of water.

Most beaches were far below the bacterial level considered safe for swimming, although Colchester Beach and Holiday Beach had counts in the 140s.

The other public beaches in the region are Cedar Beach, Cedar Island Beach, Lakeshore Lakeview Park West Beach, Point Pelee North West Beach, and Seacliff Beach.
