Body of missing swimmer recovered

The body of a missing swimmer has been recovered.

The swimmer went missing around 8 p.m. Saturday after entering Lake Erie at the Leamington Pier. Two individuals entered the water and only one was able to make it back to shore.

The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marine Unit (OPP), along with the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) recovered the body of the 46-year-old on Monday.

The Leamington Fire Services, Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services and the Canadian Coast Guard also helped with the recovery.
