Operating hours at all Windsor Public Libraries could be changing next year.
The Windsor Public Library Board approved a new schedule that includes Sundays and consistent hours across all branches.
"In the summer, we currently have 490 weekly hours, and in the winter, we have 524 weekly hours, so now we are going to be moving to 560 weekly hours all year round. So we are going to have the same schedule all year," said Mark McKenzie, board chair.
All libraries will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every other day. Previously, many branches were open at 9 a.m. and some held hours until 9 p.m.
"It there's a program, there are very few programs that are from 8 until 9 p.m., but again, if there are those programs that need to be shifted, we're going to work with all those groups and all the employees," said McKenzie.
The hours will be evaluated after six months and after one year.
The changes still need to be approved by Windsor City Council. If approved, the new hours will come into effect in 2025.
