Ontario Provincial Police in Essex County charged four people with impaired driving over the weekend.
Just before midnight Saturday, officers responded to a call about a vehicle driving erratically on County Road 20. They caught up with the vehicle in the Town of Essex.
The 62-year-old driver was arrested and charged after the officer saw signs of alcohol consumption.
Around 1 a.m. Sunday, an officer on patrol was passed by a speeding car on County Road 46 in the Municipality of Lakeshore. The officer stopped the vehicle and saw signs of alcohol consumption.
The 33-year-old driver was arrested and charged.
Then around 3 a.m. an officer stopped a speeding vehicle on County Road 42 in Lakeshore. The officer saw signs of impairment and the driver was arrested and tested at the detachment.
The 31-year-old driver was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol.
Finally, on Sunday evening around 9 p.m. the OPP responded to a call about a possible impaired driver on County Road 22 in Tecumseh.
Officers located and stopped the vehicle. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested. The 65-year-old was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol.
The OPP are reminding the public if you suspect someone is driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol to call 9-1-1 to report it.
