Single vehicle crash leads to impaired driving charges

Two passengers were taken to hospital following a single vehicle collision early Sunday morning in Kingsville.

At around 1:53 a.m. Essex County OPP, Essex-Windsor EMS and Kingsville Fire and Rescue were called to the area of County Road 29 and Road 6 West.

Police said the vehicle left the roadway, entered a ditch and caught fire.

The three occupants were able to escape the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames.

Officers learned the 18-year-old driver from Windsor previously consumed alcohol.

He is now facing charges including operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and dangerous operation.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court Justice on September 20.
