Federal government employees rallied outside Service Canada in downtown Windsor Monday to push back on a new work mandate that comes into effect this week.
The federal government now mandates that all employees must work in-office at least three days a week.
The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU) say this is a regressive policy that disrespects workers.
"We have kept up with the ongoing demands and aftermath of COVID and our members have jumped into being flexible and available to work," said Rubina Boucher, National Executive Vice President of the Canada Employment and Immigration Union. "We've cut down traffic, we've cut down major barriers for a lot of folks."
The PSAC has filed two unfair labour practice complaints surrounding the new mandate. They are also encouraging their union members to file grievances.
