Zombies return to invade downtown Windsor

The Zombie Walk is returning to downtown Windsor this year with a little twist.

The hoard of zombies will be joined by a few "terrifying" floats to create a parade for those who want to enjoy the festivities.

"Everybody is invited to come down, bring the kids, and enjoy the horde as they come up. We've added a few things, we're going to have a couple of floats," said organizer Sean Lipper.

After the parade and walk, the Downtown Windsor BIA will host a Block Party on Pelissier Street in front of Villains Bistro.

The horde will start at 6 p.m. on October 19, 2024. It will walk down Ouellette Avenue between Wyandotte Street and Pitt Street.

"It sounds weird and it sounds wacky, but that's the best thing about it," said Lippert. "It's just fun and that's exactly what we need to do. That is what Halloween is all about. Now we have an actual event that will be celebrated by the entire city."

Along the route, zombies will collect "loot" (funds) for the Downtown Mission.

Anyone interested in joining the zombie walk can register at the Downtown Windsor BIA website.
