Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex County have named their new detachment leader.
Superintendent Mark Loucas began at the Essex County detachment on August 26.
"It is my honour and privilege to step into this role, and I am eager to work alongside with the members of Essex County," said Loucas. "We will continue to serve our communities with dedication and professionalism. This detachment has dedicated, highly skilled and professional uniform, and civilian members, who provide excellent policing services to the residents of Essex County."
Loucas will oversee the OPP's policing operations in Essex, Kingsville, Lakeshore, Leamington, and Tecumseh.
He began with the OPP in the Greater Toronto Area in 1996, and in 2005, transferred to the Emergency Response Team. Two years later, Loucas joined the Tactics and Rescue Unit in London, and remained there until 2021.
Loucas then served as a detachment commander in Chatham and Elgin County, and most recently worked at the West Region Headquarters as an Operational Inspector and Critical Incident Commander.
