Police seek damaged SUV following overnight hit and run

Windsor police are seeking information after an overnight hit-and-run crash involving an e-bike.

It happened early Tuesday morning on Matchett Road near Prince Road. Police say someone riding an e-bike was traveling on Matchett toward Prince when they were struck by a black SUV. The driver of the SUV left the scene without stopping or offering help to the victim.

The victim is in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for a black Ford Explorer with possible windshield damage.

"We are urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, or who may have dashcam footage or residential-business video surveillance, to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the driver or vehicle involved," read a media release from Windsor police.

The ramp from Matchett Road to the eastbound E.C. Row Expressway was closed for several hours during the investigation. It reopened at around 3 a.m.
