Ahead of a fundraising walk to honour a mother and her two children killed in an act of intimate partner violence, Hiatus House in Windsor is looking for volunteers.
The three family members were killed in a murder-suicide back in June. The OPP found their bodies and the remains of Steve Walsh in a home on County Road 13 in Harrow.
An obituary posted on the Family First Funeral Home website remembered Carly for her strong work ethic and commitment to the community. She served on the Catholic School Advisory Council at St. Anthony's Catholic Elementary School in Harrow.
Madison and Hunter both went to St. Anthony's. Madison was in grade 7 and was described as "a budding entrepreneur," while her brother, Hunter, was a grade 3 student.
In addition to volunteers, Hiatus House also needs water, snacks, and fruit donations for the event on November 2 at the Harrow Soccer Complex.
Money raised will go to Hiatus House and its transitional housing project. The agency will name one of the units in the family's honour.
The walk starts at 11 a.m. and is about 3.5 km long.
Hiatus House hopes to raise $10,000.
