Lakeshore adopts Fire Master Plan to guide service for next ten years

Lakeshore has adopted a road map to meet its fire department's operational and strategic needs over the next decade.

The municipality faces numerous challenges in the years ahead, including population growth, changes in legislation, an increase in calls, and a strain on current staffing levels.

"This is yet another critical document that outlines some of the significant pressures that Lakeshore is facing as one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Ontario," said Mayor Tracey Bailey of the 2023 Fire Master Plan.

The plan, developed with input from firefighters, council members, and the public, contains 43 recommendations.

"We will look to provide the most cost-effective solutions so we can continue to deliver the best service we can," added Lakeshore Fire Chief Jason Suchiu.

Councillors received the recommendations during their meeting on September 10. A community risk assessment analyzed nine profiles related to building stock, demographics, and geography.
