Windsor's Belchetz gets first four OHL goals, six points in huge win against Rangers

It’s a night the first overall pick from the 2024 OHL draft may never forget.

The Windsor Spitfires took on the Kitchener Rangers Saturday night at the WFCU Centre winning 12-2.

It was Ethan Belchetz who stole the show as he ended up scoring his first four OHL goals and adding two assists.

The Spitfires came out firing in the first as they scored five goals. Belchetz accounted for two of the goals, while Noah Morneau added his second with Ethan Garden and Owen Outwater each scoring their first.

Luke Ellinas scored the lone tally for the Rangers in the period.

Spitfire Captain Liam Greentree added his second of the year early in the second period to extend the lead to 6-1. Belchetz got his third point of the game with as assist, while Anthony Cristoforo got the other helper.

Jean-Christoph Lemieux scored his first and second later in the period with Morneau, Outwater, Josef Eichler, and Cole Davis each adding an assist.

Just like the first period, the Rangers were able to get one in the second with Luca Romano finding the back of the net.

Belchetz would get his third of the night in the third period. Outwater and Carson Woodall grabbed assists on the goal.

Outwater got his second goal and fourth point late in the period, while Belchetz added an assist to give him five points. Morneau got the second assist on the goal.

Belchetz capped off his night with a shorthanded goal with Morneau getting another assist.

The scoring was finally done when Nathan Gaymes found the back of the net for his first of the year. Carter Hicks got the only assist on the play.

With the win, Windsor improves its record to 2-0-1-0, while Kitchener moves to 0-2-0-0.

The Spitfire's next game is on Thursday, Oct. 3, at home against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
