Arrest made in a nearly million-dollar fraud case

A 35-year-old has been charged following a fraud investigation by Windsor police.

The Financial Crimes Unit learned that between February 2019 and September 2023, the suspect wrote numerous forged cheques, and conducted unauthorized bill payments and transfers.

Police reported that the alleged fraudulent transactions totaled $995,610.

On Tuesday, officers arrested the suspect at a home on Olive Road near Milloy Street.

The counts include fraud over $5,000, uttering a forged document, and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

The charges have not been proven in court.
