A man who took a selfie at the hospital bed of the father of someone he had been arguing with online has learned his punishment.
Christopher "Bubba" Pollock was sentenced in a Windsor court on Friday morning to 60 days at the Southwest Detention Centre.
The 35-year-old Pollock, from London, pleaded guilty in January to one count of criminal harassment in the bizarre incident. Sentencing submissions were provided in July, but the imposing of the sentence was delayed.
Britt Leroux, whose father was seen lying helpless in his hospital bed, confirmed the sentence Friday on her Facebook page.
"It's done...I did it, Dad, he's behind bars for what he did to you," posted Leroux.
Pollock was also sentenced to three years probation, with the first year including a 12-month ban from using any form of social media.
He must also pay restitution to the Leroux family and submit a DNA sample. Pollock is also not allowed any contact with Leroux or her family.
The incident took place in June 2023 after Pollock, a vocal opponent of LGBTQ+ rights, began an argument with Leroux on social media over her support of events where drag performers read stories to children.
Pollock drove from London to Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare in Windsor and somehow got into a hospital room where Leroux's dying father was lying unconscious. He left flowers and took a selfie next to the bed.
Pollock later posted the photo on his social media, but it was also posted by a Sarnia-based LGBTQ+ group, which posted the photo as a warning about Pollock.
Leroux's father was in palliative care for pancreatic cancer. He succumbed to the disease weeks after the selfie was taken.
The Crown had asked for a six-month jail sentence with three years' probation, while Pollock's lawyer asked for a suspended sentence or a conditional one that included community service.
