Stolen Jeep recovered in theft investigation

Not only did Windsor Police recover some stolen goods taken from a business on Provincial Road Thursday morning, but they also found a stolen 2016 Jeep Patriot.

Officers were called to the business just after 8:30 a.m. on Thursday after the theft at a business on Provincial near Sixth Concession Road.

When they arrived, they spotted the suspect sitting in the driver's seat of a blue Jeep Patriot. When officers approached, the man fled on foot.

They arrested him a short time later.

While investigating the crime, they discovered the Jeep was reported stolen in Leamington last week, and the license plate belonged to another vehicle.

A 36-year-old man faces possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000, theft not exceeding $5,000, and operation of a conveyance while prohibited charges.

The Jeep was returned to its rightful owner.
