Windsor restaurant closing after 40 years

A longtime staple in Windsor is closing its doors.

Bubi's Awesome Eats officially made its last gourmet burger on Friday after nearly 40 years in service.

In a statement posted to social media, the restaurant’s owner Buddy Miloyevich said life after COVID was a struggle.

“The increase of services outside the downtown core allowing customers to stay closer to home, let’s not dwell but be honest about the reality issues of downtown, people’s habits, pricing, increased costs, the list goes on,” he explained.

In his statement, Miloyevich talked about the people who once worked for the restaurant. He said he’s employed hundreds of people with the most at one time being 53.

“Anna, our famous prep cook, was the longest standing team member for 36 years with many others working for 10, 15 and 20 years,” he added.

Messages from past customers have been flooding in. Many were shocked with some taking the time to share how much they’ll miss the restaurant.

“The immediate outreach after my post has been overwhelming and heart felt. I am nothing less than honoured and humbled with everyone’s sentiment. I cannot thank everyone enough, from customers, employees and suppliers, who worked and supported and enriched my life and the Bubi’s Family over those 40 years,” added Miloyevich.
