Public health nurses at the Windsor Essex County Health Unit continue to negotiate a new collective agreement.
The 75 nurses represented by the Ontario Nurses Association have been without a contract since March 31.
"We had conciliation, the first date in September, we have another one coming up next week and we're hopeful that we'll get a fair negotiated settlement," said Alan Warrington, ONA Region 5 vice president.
He said they are looking for increased wages and a better work-life balance.
"WECHU nurses are some of the lowest paid nurses in public health in the province so it's time that these WECHU nurses are treated fairly," said Warrington. "We need the public to tell the employer that nurses' needs must be met so they can continue to provide high-quality, specialized care to this community."
The two sides will meet with a conciliator on October 15. At this time, there is no strike action planned.
