For six years, Rakesh Naidu has been a steady hand on the wheel at the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce. Now, he's leaving.
Naidu took over as CEO in 2018 after Matt Marchand left the post to make his unsuccessful bid for Mayor of Windsor. When Marchand left, and before Naidu accepted the position, Janice Forsyth served as the interim President and CEO.
"The board is grateful for all that Rakesh has done during his tenure, particularly in championing resolutions on both the provincial and federal levels," read a release from the chamber. "There is no question he has been a strong advocate for the region."
The chamber has appointed Tony Haddad as interim CEO while it undertakes the search for a permanent replacement.
Haddad was the CAO of the Town of Tecumseh from 2007 until his retirement in 2019. Since then, he served as the interim CAO in Amherstburg and Chatham-Kent.
