A Nova Scotia man running across Canada has made his way to Chatham-Kent.
Trevor Redmond, known also as the "Fellow in Yellow," started his journey in March and arrived in Blenheim on Tuesday after travelling around 4,400 km.
He's doing this to inspire people to be mobile, especially those dealing with or healing from an injury or illness.
Redmond told CK News Today being active helped him recover from a serious injury when he was a teen.
"I was struck by a car when I was 15. It was touch and go with my leg, basically if my leg lost feeling they might have removed it," he said.
Because of this, it's not surprising to hear Redmond call Terry Fox an inspiration. When he was struggling with the possibility of being an amputee, it was Fox's story which helped him realize he could still live an active lifestyle.
This is Redmond's third journey across Canada. He walked over 11,000 km in 2006/07 and biked another 14,000 in 2009.
"Having moved over 26,000 kilometres and still having the ability to move further, I really wanted to (again) and I was raring to get back out," Redmond added.
This is Redmond's first time stopping in southwestern Ontario. Despite only being in the area for a short amount of time, it's left a lasting impression on him.
"I can mark it as the best support I've had on the trip, even a higher degree than Newfoundland which may shock a few people," he laughed.
Redmond's only been in Chatham-Kent for roughly a day, but noted he's already experienced a lot of support. This included being provided a free room at the Silver Motel in Blenheim.
He plans to visit other communities in the municipality along Highway 3 before heading to Leamington and Windsor.
Afterward, he plans on visiting Chatham. He doesn't quite know how long it'll take him to get to Chatham but he believes it may be a few weeks.
