Organizers of the second annual YGQ Green Expo this weekend want you to bring old eyeglasses, shoes, clothing, used batteries, and Christmas trees to the WFCU Centre on Saturday.
Many local organizations can use those, and they'll be at the expo from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., celebrating Canada's Waste Reduction Week.
The Lions Club will take those old eyeglasses. Computers for Kids want your broken computers and other e-waste. Old books and reusable shopping bags are sought after by the Downtown Mission, while the May Court Club is looking for clothing donations.
Founder Elizabeth Elias-Hernandez is enthusiastic about the event.
"We're thrilled to see Windsor come together once again to reduce waste, support local businesses, and give back to charities," she said. "Our goal is to inspire lasting change and make sustainability a way of life."
Those who go might want to check out the new Career Zone by WETech Alliance and Invest WindsorEssex. It features a new expert every hour, along with door prizes and the chance to win a basketball game group package from the Windsor Express.
Those who don't have time to enter the expo can still help by dropping off their donations at the Outdoor Community Drive-Thru and Drop-Off.
