Woman charged after LaSalle police vehicle hit

LaSalle police have arrested a driver after a parked police cruiser was hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.

It happened on Matchett Road at around 9 p.m. Officers were investigating a previous crash with a parked cruiser that was acting as a barricade. A southbound driver failed to stop for the parked cruiser, then struck it and a traffic cone.

The driver allegedly failed to stop and continued driving in the direction of the officers who were investigating the first crash. According to police, the officers were forced to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.

The vehicle was stopped down the road a short time later. Police say the driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested.

No one was hurt.

A 40-year-old woman has been charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration, dangerous driving, and failing to remain at the scene of a crash.

The charges have not been proven in court.
