Southern Ontario memorable for man running across Canada

Communities across southern Ontario have left a lasting impression on a Nova Scotia man running across Canada.

Trevor Redmond, known also as the "Fellow in Yellow," had spent the last few weeks exploring the province's southern tip but is now heading north along Lake Huron.

He began his journey back in March with a goal of inspiring people to be mobile, especially those dealing with or healing from an injury or illness.

Redmond said people in and around Chatham-Kent, Windsor, and Sarnia were some of the nicest he's ever met.

"I adore them and they're adoring people, a lot of really good kind support," he explained.

When running through neighbourhoods, many would come out to meet him. While his journey was to inspire people, Redmond still hasn't gotten used to the attention he's been getting.

"Having people come out of their house, people standing in their driveways waiting for you... it's really special," he said.

Redmond joked that Halloween, which he celebrated in Windsor, felt quite weird as it seemed more people were coming out to see him rather than wait for trick-or-treaters.

One of the highlights of his time in southern Ontario was his trek from Chatham to Wallaceburg. This is because of how difficult it was due to all the wind.

"When you're facing wind all day, you're climbing up one big mountain because there's no inertia, it's just there pushing you back," added Redmond.
