Suspect wanted in abduction and extortion investigation

Windsor police have arrested one suspect and are looking for another in connection to a kidnapping and extortion investigation.

According to investigators, the victim was abducted in July 2024 on Howard Avenue. He was then taken to an unknown location where he was beaten and threatened. The victim was then released and ordered to give the suspects money. When the victim could not comply the suspects allegedly made threats against him.

The incident was not reported to police until November 9.

After an investigation arrest warrants were issued for two suspects.

On Wednesday, a 30-year-old man was charged with 29 offences in connection to the case including extortion, forcible confinement, kidnapping, uttering death threats, and robbery.

A second suspect, Alwassi Al-Latif, 27, is still at large. He is also wanted for extortion, forcible confinement, assault and uttering death threats.
