The City of Windsor has launched an online survey asking residents what they think of a new housing development downtown.
It's looking at developing Municipal Parking Lot 15 on Pelissier Street between Wyandotte Street West and Elliott Street West. It issued an expression of interest for developers almost a month ago, and the project is considered essential to meeting Windsor's housing needs.
The survey is open until December 18 on the city's Let's Talk Windsor page.
"The Pelissier Street Parking Lot redevelopment is an exciting opportunity to deliver much-needed housing while supporting our efforts to strengthen the core and revitalize downtown Windsor," said Mayor Drew Dilkens. "Community input is key, and I encourage residents to participate in the survey to share insights and help shape this project."
Responses will be compiled into a report that will be shared with developers. Resident input will remain anonymous.
"We want to ensure that this project reflects the needs and aspirations of our downtown residents and businesses while adding more diverse and accessible housing options," added Ward 3 Councillor Renaldo Agostino.
The city identified the lot as a priority under the Housing Solutions Made for Windsor initiative.
