Tecumseh woman charged after Windsor crash

Windsor police say a 51-year-old woman has been arrested following a collision over the weekend.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Friday on Wyandotte Street East and Jos Janisse Avenue. Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash.

Police learned that a driver had crossed into oncoming traffic on Wyandotte East and hit another vehicle head-on.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

When officers questioned the first driver, they noticed a strong odour of alcohol and signs of impairment.

The Tecumseh resident is charged with impaired driving and refusal to provide a breath sample.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Windsor police are using this incident to remind people that there will be an increased presence of officers on the streets of Windsor and Amherstburg through January 1, 2025. The Festive RIDE campaign, a provincial effort to reduce impaired driving incidents during the holiday season, is ongoing.
