Urology services return to Erie Shores Healthcare

Erie Shores Healthcare in Leamington says urology patients will no longer have to seek services elsewhere. The hospital in Leamington is reinstating those procedures twice a week.

The reinstatement is possible thanks to donations to the 'Show Us Your Stache' campaign by the Erie Shores Health Foundation, a $200,000 commitment in last week's Essex County budget, and a $250,000 donation from Harrow couple Larry and Marcia Pollard.

Larry Pollard has been a urology patient for nine years and appreciates having those services close to home.

"My condition has controlled my life for nine years already. Now, I can interact with my family and feel healthy doing it. My future would not look so bright if it were not for urology services," he said. "I believe in saving other patients the painful and time-consuming trips down the highway to Windsor or London."

The $200,000 pledge from the county is part of its $2-million ten-year commitment to Erie Shores Healthcare.

"We are thrilled to reintroduce urology services at Erie Shores Healthcare," said hospital president and CEO Kristin Kennedy. "This partnership ensures that our patients receive high-quality, specialized care close to home, reducing the need for extensive travel."

The hospital will provide care, including managing urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and other related conditions.
