Candlelight service remembers children who have passed

On the second Sunday of December every year, a candlelight vigil is held around the world to remember children who have died.

In Windsor, the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex County Branch is hosting a vigil this Sunday at the Fogolar Furlan Club for parents and family members who wish to publicly remember their loved one.

This year's service starts at 6:30 p.m. and candles will be lit at 7 p.m., the same time they'll be ignited around the world.

The event brings together the bereaved no matter the age of the child lost.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo of their child for the memory table.

The vigil is an extension of the CMHA-WECB's Bereavement Program, which supports hundreds of children and adults who are coping with the loss of a loved one.
