LaSalle Gives Back firefighters' campaign raises over $66K

Two organizations will benefit from the money raised during the inaugural LaSalle Gives Back Firefighters campaign.

This year's campaign from November 14 to November 16 raised $66,049.54. Volunteers and firefighters handed out newsletters on the street in exchange for monetary donations.

The campaign gave the St. Andrews Anglican Church Community Food Bank $60,000, and the LaSalle Hangout for Youth received a cheque for $5,000.

The rest of the money bought newspapers and covered the campaign's administrative costs.

"It's overwhelming to see the community's generosity and support towards these two worthy organizations," said Chris Carr from the LaSalle Firefighters Association. "We hope to continue strengthening our community together and look forward to growing the LaSalle Gives Back fundraiser every year."

The campaign was launched to ensure donations collected in LaSalle remain in the community.
