Tunnel Bus to continue if councillors get their way

Windsor City councillors have voted to continue operation of the Transit Windsor Tunnel Bus.

But trips on the Tunnel Bus across the Windsor-Detroit border will cost more now, $20 each way.

That leaves a $791,300 budget shortfall that will be paid for through the municipal tax levy.

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens still has 10 days to veto any council amendments if he wants to.

The motion to keep the service and increase fares passed with a 7 to 4 vote during Monday's Special Council Meeting for budget deliberations. Dilkens voted against the motion.

The tax levy increase is now 3.1 per cent. The levy increase was 2.99 per cent at the beginning of deliberations.
