The housing market in Windsor and Essex County ended 2024 on a high note as listings, sales, and the average home price increased in December.
Sales were up just slightly from last December, 0.41 per cent from 12 months ago, as 242 properties changed owners.
December's increase marks the fifth straight month sales in the region outpaced last year's, and for the year, housing sales increased 3.34 per cent.
In all of last year, 5,074 were sold compared to 4,911 in 2023.
More people decided to sell their property last month. Listings jumped 29.97 per cent as realtors put "For Sale" signs up in front of 399 homes, compared to 307 in December 2023.
Overall, listings were up 11.94 per cent in 2024, and at the time it published its December report, the Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors said 1,210 properties were on the market.
Buying a home cost another 14.42 per cent more last month. The average selling price in December was $585,108, up from $511,759 a year ago.
