Windsor police arrest suspected serial thief, seek a second

A 35-year-old man has been charged after Windsor police say he hit two south-end homes last week.

Investigators say the first incident was reported at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, with a break-and-enter reported at a home on Roseland Drive West near Kennedy Drive West.

Police learned that two people drove to the house in a stolen vehicle, and entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. Using the vehicle's garage door opener, they accessed the garage, where they stole various items.

The suspects then allegedly went to another home on Roseland West near Whittier Avenue, where they did the same thing with another vehicle in the driveway and a garage door opener.

One of the suspects was found on Wednesday in the area of Elliott Street East near Marentette.

He is charged with two counts of break-and-enter, two counts of wearing a disguise to commit an offence, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

A second suspect is described as a White male with a thin build. At the time of the incident, he wore a black hat, a black hoodie, black pants, and black shoes.

Police are using these incidents to remind residents not to leave garage door openers in their vehicles. If you must leave it, keep the vehicle locked.

The Target Base Unit is asking residents and business owners in the area to check their surveillance or dashcam footage, specifically between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., on January 7.

Anyone with information should call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4350. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
