Attempted murder charges laid after woman hit by vehicle

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a vehicle struck a woman on Monday.

A 48-year-old woman reported to LaSalle Police that an acquaintance deliberately drove his pickup truck toward her at a park on Malden Road. The woman tried to jump out of the way, but the vehicle's side mirror hit her.

She sustained non-life-threatening physical injuries.

The LaSalle Police contacted the Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit because the alleged offence occurred in Windsor.

On Wednesday, Windsor police officers arrested a 50-year-old man at a home on St. Patrick's Avenue. He faces an attempted murder charge, along with counts of assault with a weapon, criminal harassment, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, uttering death threats and mischief.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Investigators are asking anyone from the area of Malden Road between Chappus Street and the E.C. Row Expressway with surveillance or dash cameras to check their footage for possible evidence.
