Vacant home on Cameron Avenue goes up in flames

The Windsor Police Services Arson Unit is investigating a fire on Cameron Avenue on Wednesday night.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services Fire Prevention Officer Mike Coste said firefighters were called to a vacant home at the corner of Cameron and Riverside Drive West around 8 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, there was a lot of smoke and flames, which ignited the house next door.

Nobody was hurt, and there is no damage estimate yet, but Coste said the first house is a write-off and damage at the second home is significant.

It's the second fire at the house in the past six months. The first fire was on September 5.

The Windsor Police Services Arson Unit is treating the fire as suspicious.

Investigators are asking residents and business owners in the area to check their surveillance or dashcam footage, specifically between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., for video evidence that may assist with the investigation.
