Essex grandmother wins $100K playing Encore

A decision to purchase a lottery ticket paid off for an Essex woman.

Theresa (Terri) Renaud matched the last six numbers in order while playing Encore, winning the second prize of $100,000.

She paid a loonie to activate Encore while playing the Lotto Max draw for December 17, 2024.

The mother and grandmother plays Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 each week.

"It was actually my husband who took my ticket to the store to have it validated," said Renaud. "He was surprised when the lottery terminal froze. When he told me what happened, I couldn’t believe it. I shared the incredible news with my daughters and sister, and they were all so happy for me."

Renaud collected her cheque this week at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. She plans to use her winnings to pay off bills.

She purchased her winning ticket at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Talbot Street South in Essex.
