Local Chamber of Commerce, Invest WindsorEssex form tariff task force

If Windsor is one of the cities bracing for a hit from American tariffs, the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce and Invest WindsorEssex want to be prepared to mitigate the impact.

It's forming a task force, made up of business and political leaders and community shareholders, that would collect, coordinate, and disseminate information on strategies and programs that can alleviate the impact of a trade war with the U.S.

"The Windsor-Essex Economic Trade Task Force is committed to supporting the economic interests of the region through a coordinated and responsive approach," said Chamber President and CEO Ryan Donally. "By fostering collaboration and providing timely updates, the task force aims to enhance economic resilience and growth."

In addition to gathering local input, providing insights, and updates on support programs, the task force will also advocate for supportive measures to all levels of government.

"Invest WindsorEssex is committed to a strong and competitive business environment for our region. The Windsor-Essex Economic Trade Task Force will play a vital role in ensuring that businesses have the necessary resources and support to navigate the current trade challenges," added Strategic Advisor to the Board and Chief Operating Officer of Invest WindsorEssex Keith Andrews.

The task force is launching an online resource with current information, resources, support and contacts to help local businesses through a possible trade dispute.
