The local NDP candidates outlined a platform focused on investments for healthcare, education, and job supports for the region.
Windsor West candidate Lisa Gretzky, Windsor-Tecumseh candidate Gemma Grey-Hall, and Essex candidate Rachael Mills laid out their plan on Friday morning.
Part of the plan includes expediting the new acute care hospital and investing in staff for hospitals throughout the province.
"Invest in hiring doctors and healthcare workers. Ensuring that our new acute care hospital is built even faster and with enough staff in it to be able to provide the necessary care that people need," said Gretzky.
The NDP also promised to make investments in education and reduce the deferred maintenance budget within school boards.
"Making sure that we're hiring teachers and education workers, educational assistants and all of the other supports that our students need. As well as making sure that there's a food program so that they're not going hungry," said Grey-Hall.
The NDP is also committing to fighting tariffs to protect local jobs. They say they will also invest in electric vehicle infrastructure to support the growing sector.
Gretzky said all of this can be accomplished by investing tax dollars wisely.
"When you invest in supports and services upfront, when you ensure that people can get to a family doctor or a nurse practitioner, that they have immediate access to mental health and addictions support, that supports their health, it keeps people out of hospital," said Gretzky.
