Advance polling for Ontario election starts Thursday. Here's where to vote

For those who won't be around next Thursday to cast a ballot in the Ontario election, three advance polling days start on Thursday.

"Starting today, voters in Ontario can cast their ballot during three days of advance polling," said Chief Electoral Officer of Ontario Greg Essensa. "You can use the Elections Ontario app to find your advance polling locations and get a scannable version of your voter information card, one of many ways we are working to make voting easier."

If you don't have the app, WindsorNewsToday.ca has found the advance polling locations in the region. Each poll is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In Essex, there are six advance polling locations.

* Masonic Lodge in Essex Centre

* Atlas Tube Recreation Centre in Belle River

* Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre in Harrow

* Kingsville Arena in Kingsville

* Libro Credit Union Centre in Amherstburg

* Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex in LaSalle

For those in Windsor West who want to vote early, there are two locations. Votes can be cast at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex and at MacKenzie Hall.

There are three locations where you can cast your ballot early in Windsor-Tecumseh. They are at the Forest Glade Community Centre, the Gino and Liz Marcus Community Centre, and the Banquet Hall at the WFCU Centre.

Those in the riding of Chatham-Kent-Leamington also have options too. Advance polling is at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre in Leamington, at the Tilbury and District Memorial Community Arena, and at Wheatley United Church.

If you have already received your voter information card, take that with you to the polling station, along with a piece of government identification showing your name.

For those who haven't received it, voters must bring one piece of government identification that shows their name and residential address.

Friday is the deadline to submit your application to vote by mail. Applications must be in by 6 p.m. Applications are available online.

Election Day in Ontario is February 27. Polls will open at 9 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
