An all-new festival opens today in Downtown Windsor.
Polar Fest, sponsored by the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association, runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday in the Vision Corridor next to Art Windsor-Essex and the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.
The festival coincides with Friday's annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario at 6:30 p.m.
"The Polar Plunge has always been a symbol of strength, courage and giving back," said Windsor Police Chief Jason Bellaire. "We're not just raising funds for an important cause. We're bringing people together for a night of fun, connection, and camaraderie."
Those who go to Polar Fest will be treated to entertainment from DJ Evolution, food from local restaurants, and unique handcrafted goods from local artisans. There are also winter-themed crafts for the kids.
"Polar Fest isn't just about embracing the cold. It's about embracing our community," said DWBIA Chair Chris MacLeod. "This festival celebrates Windsor's resilience, creativity, and generosity. Whether you're plunging, shopping, or just soaking up the atmosphere, you're part of something special."
