Windsor-built minivans off to a strong 2025 start

Despite uncertainty over tariffs by the U.S. government on Canadian-made vehicles, Windsor's signature product is having little trouble finding its way off showroom floors.

Stellantis Canada unveiled its first-quarter sales figures for 2025 this week, and both the Chrysler Pacifica and the Chrysler Grand Caravan saw significant increases in sales compared to the first three months of 2024.

Sales of the the high-end Pacifica minivan were up 44 per cent in the first quarter, compared to the same period the year before. There were 1,126 vehicles sold between January and March, compared to 782 in the first quarter of 2024.

The Grand Caravan continued to rise in popularity, with 1,417 vehicles sold, compared to 609 in the first quarter of 2024, for a 133 per cent increase.

Sales of vehicles with the Chrysler nameplate were up 69 per cent year-to-year.

As a whole, Stellantis Canada sold 26,354 vehicles during the first three months of the year, an 18 per cent decline from the first quarter of 2024.

No change in Bank of Canada rate

It announced on Wednesday morning that the overnight rate will remain at 2.25 per cent, with the bank rate at 2.5 per cent, and the deposit rate at 2.2 per cent.
