Amherstburg arson suspect surrenders to police

A suspect wanted in connection with an arson in Amherstburg has turned himself in to Windsor police.

Amherstburg fire crews were called in the early morning hours of January 18 to a blaze at a newly built house on Cowan Court. The fire caused over $1 million in damages to the home and an adjacent property.

It was the third time in 16 months that the home was hit by arson.

Two suspects were arrested earlier in connection with the arson, and a warrant was put out for a 20-year-old Brampton man.

Windsor police say the man surrendered Tuesday morning at police headquarters.

He is charged with arson causing damage to property, possession of incendiary materials, and conspiracy to commit arson.

The charges have not been proven in court.
