Warden calls for collaboration during trade war

Warden Hilda MacDonald is calling on everyone in Essex County to rally together to face the outcomes of the trade war.

That was her message during the annual Warden's Luncheon hosted by the Windsor-Essex Chamber of Commerce on Friday.

"We have to acknowledge it, but we don't have to let it frighten us or defeat us," said MacDonald. "I think we just rally, just like we did during COVID. That was my lesson from COVID. Look at the bridges we've built in the past that now we're using. Our friends and colleagues supported us and got us through."

MacDonald also noted the importance of continuing to work on regional transportation and developing industrial lands to support economic development for the seven Essex County municipalities.

"Housing is still a priority, always will be, but also we're still looking at the possibility of an industrial land property. Those kinds of things to create opportunities for businesses to develop within the county," said MacDonald.

A specific property has not been identified for industrial lands.
