Windsor Police make arrest following five-hour standoff

A 40-year-old man faces charges after a lengthy standoff in Windsor's Walkerville neighbourhood on Tuesday.

Windsor Police said the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad arrived at a home on Chilver Road just before 9 a.m. to execute a warrant.

A man inside the home refused to comply with police demands to leave the house, so officers set up a perimeter and called in negotiators.

After five hours, the man surrendered. Officers arrested him on an outstanding warrant.

Police ask anyone with information to call 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or go to www.catchcrooks.com.
