Collision involving cyclist and police cruiser under investigation

The Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a cyclist was hit by a police cruiser Sunday.

The provincial police watchdog reported the collision happened around 1:40 p.m. at the intersection of Glengarry Avenue and Assumption Street when an officer was en route to a call for service.

The cyclist was taken to the hospital where he was treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Three investigators, a forensic investigator, and a collision reconstructionist, have been assigned to review the case.

The SIU is still looking for witnesses. Anyone with information, including videos or photos, is asked to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
