New EV infrastructure unveiled in Lakeshore

"What a great way to celebrate Earth Day," said Lakeshore Mayor Tracey Bailey as councillors unveiled a couple of new electric vehicle chargers in the municipality.

The total cost of the two charging stations is about $130,000, but a grant from Aviva Canada's Charged for Change initiative covered $125,000.

One charging station is at Lakeview Park, while the othere is at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre. Each one can charge two vehicles at a time at a cost of $2 an hour and can be accessed using the ChargePoint application.

"We are thrilled to have been able to support the Municipality of Lakeshore with this project to bring EV infrastructure to residents and visitors," said Executive Director of Earth Day Canada, Valerie Mallamo. "Aviva Canada and Earth Day Canada are committed to helping build a more sustainable future. One way of doing it is by taking steps to address the greenhouse gas emissions coming from the transportation sector and help accelerate the EV transition."
